Hiking The Pfeifferhorn via the Red Pine Lake Trail | Wasatch Peak Bagging | Best Hikes in Utah

The Pfeifferhorn is an incredible hike that passes Red Pine Lake and several other alpine lakes. I've been wanting to summit Pfeifferhorn ever since I first saw it while on top of Mount Superior this last winter, but it somehow kept getting bumped down on my priority list. I'm very glad that I was able to final bag this peak and get it checked off of my list.

The Pfeifferhorn sticks up 400 feet higher than the ridge line below it, so it's easily visible from a lot of the other high peaks in the Wasatch. It's sometimes refered to as the Little Matterhorn. There were some really amazing views on this trail and once I got up to the ridge, I could see down toward Little Cottonwood Canyon and also south, out towards Utah Lake. The scramble on the ridge had more exposure than the scramble up the actual horn, but I thought it was less technical than some of the peaks I've done this summer.

Red Pine Lake was definitely a huge highlight on this trip. It's one of the prettiest Alpine lakes I've hiked to this summer.
