Seven Sacred Pools and Pīpīwai Trail Hike | Road to Hana | Maui HAWAII

The Seven Sacred Pools—also known as the Pools of ‘Ohe’o—are one of the most iconic stops along the Road to Hana, and for good reason. Tucked inside Haleakalā National Park’s Kipahulu District, this series of cascading waterfalls and jungle pools feels like a hidden paradise at the end of Maui’s famous drive. We arrived to the sound of rushing water and lush rainforest all around, soaking in the beauty of this remote corner of the island.

After exploring the pools, we continued up the Pīpīwai Trail, a 3.4-mile round-trip hike that winds through towering bamboo forests, giant banyan trees, and multiple waterfalls. Along the way we got great views of Makahiku Falls, a stunning 185-foot drop framed by dense greenery, before reaching the trail’s grand finale: Waimoku Falls, an incredible 400-foot waterfall plunging down a sheer cliff.

Whether you’re chasing waterfalls, hiking through bamboo, or simply soaking up the wild beauty of Hana, this stop offers a perfect mix of adventure and serenity. It’s a must-see for anyone exploring Maui’s east side and was one of the most memorable days of our trip.
