Makena Beach State Park (Big Beach) | Best Beaches on Maui Hawaii

Makena Beach (Big Beach) is a massive white sand beach in South Maui that is about 2/3 mile long. It has good views of some nearby islands and is a great place for bodyboarding, sunbathing, swimming (in the summer) etc. It is considered one of the best beaches on the island and is definitely worth a visit.

Be aware that this beach can be dangerous depending on the wave conditions. The waves break right on the shore here making it dangerous for children and inexperienced swimmers when there is a large south swell. (nicknamed "breakneck beach")

The snorkel footage at the beginning of the video was taken at the Ahihi Kinau Natural Area Reserve, which is just a few minutes south of Big Beach.
