Maui Fishing Adventure | Deep Sea Catch, Humpback Whales & Shark Sighting

Deep sea fishing off the coast of Maui made for an unforgettable day on the water and an epic way to celebrate my brother-in-law Raymond’s birthday. We set out early with hopes of reeling in something big, trolling lines behind the boat as we cruised through the deep blue Pacific. While the big catch never came, the trip was still packed with action. We caught plenty of smaller yellow fish and even one bright red one, and I was lucky enough to win a quick onboard raffle to reel in a fish caught on the outriggers. The crew let us know it wasn’t good for eating, so they cut it up to use as bait for the other rods.

As exciting as the fishing was, the wildlife around us made the day even better. It was whale season in Maui, and we spotted countless humpback whales breaching and spouting in the distance. At one point, a shark cruised by the boat—an unforgettable sight in the clear Hawaiian waters. Even without a trophy fish to take home, spending the day out on the ocean with family, surrounded by whales, sharks, and the dramatic Maui coastline, made this day of adventures in Hawaii one to remeber.
