Pali Notches Trail | Steep Ridge Scramble on Oahu | HAWAII Hiking

Pali Notches is a short but steep and exposed technical hike/scramble near the Nu‘uanu Pali Lookout. The trail goes up a steep ridge to two man made notches. The notches were made during the 1700s by King Kamehameha’s warriors to house cannons and warriors on lookout while they kept Nu’uanu Valley secure. The views are amazing from this incredible hike, but there are lots of steep drop offs, and wind or rain can make it dangerous. There were several fixed ropes on the route when I did it, but I thought it was best to not trust their integrity since I didn't know how long they had been out in the sun. I ended up turning around at the "Chimney" section since I didn't have proper climbing gear with me.
