Chicken Soup Hot Springs in Lava Hot Springs

Most people are familiar with the Sate Foundation owned Hot Pools and Swimming Complex in Lava Hot Springs, Idaho, but not many know there are natural hot pools (Chicken Soup) in the side of the river that you can enjoy for free.

We camped about 30 minutes north of Lava Hot Springs near Big Spring Campground. On our way in to Lava Hot Springs we stopped at the Portneuf River Lower Sportsman Access to see the small waterfalls in the river, which is just a few minutes from the hot springs. The hot pools are just a short walk from the road, or if you are floating the river, you will pass right by them.
